Reality (no issues): $22 + $2 airport pickup fee + $3–5 tip = $27–29

The hidden Uber fees that don't show in estimates
Uber's initial estimate hides:
- Airport pickup fee: $2–3 at both MIA and FLL — added at end of ride
- Booking fee: $2–4 depending on your city
- Wait time charges: If your driver arrives before you're at the pickup zone, you're billed $0.30–0.60/minute after 3 minutes. Landing late = wait charges.
- Surge multiplier: Cruise Saturday mornings surge is typical 1.5x–2.5x. Sometimes 3x for early departures.
- Cancellation fees: Driver cancels at 6 minutes? You're refunded but you've lost 6 minutes. Repeated cancellations = 20+ minutes of lost time.
- Trip fees for stops: Need to stop at a pharmacy for meds? $3–5 per extra stop.
None of these show in the "estimated cost" on Uber's booking screen. All appear on your final receipt.

When Uber is genuinely the better choice
To be fair — Uber makes sense in these cases:
- Solo traveler, weekday, off-peak (no surge)
- You're flexible with time and don't have a boarding deadline
- Traveling light (backpack or single carry-on)
- Comfortable with the rideshare pickup process at MIA
Uber is NOT the better choice when:
- Cruise Saturday morning (surge kills you)
- Family/group of 3+ (private shuttle is cheaper or same)
- Tight boarding deadline (Uber can't guarantee arrival)
- Multiple bags or specialty luggage (kids' stuff, sports gear)
